Functional Strength Training
The stronger your structure becomes the less you become injured and the higher your performance will soar. One of the biggest components to addressing mechanics and increasing your strength, power and balance in endurance sports is designing a proper functional program. Endurance athletes need strength, power, flexibility, mobility, balance and efficient functional movement. When athletes go to the gym for a workout they need to start thinking about training specific movements, not just muscles. In a repetitive sport like endurance sports where you are performing repetitive movements over and over again, you need to train with a specific system to create balance and symmetry throughout the body. These concepts should be used throughout the entire season. Address mechanics and functional strength and build a training program from there.
Once a week we'll feature specifically targeted group workouts for triathletes and runners designed by our elite coaches. These workouts also go hand-in-hand with an Athlete Wise coached client's training schedule. An Athlete Wise certified instructor will be available at all workouts to provide advice and mentoring for athletes.

Great coaching is about much more than just handing over a training plan. Great coaching is about providing education and guiding practical application. The secret to being a great coach is listening and we recognize that you inherently know more about yourself then we do. Athlete feedback is a critical piece of a successful coaching relationship. Often times, an athlete has an idea of what he or she responds best to, as well as what is most enjoyable. Incorporating these components into your training plan ensures that the objectives of the coach and the athlete are always aligned and the training plan helps empower you to achieve your goals.
